Fearless, Flawed, and Faithful: What the Moms of the Bible Teach Us About Motherhood Today

by | May 26, 2026 | The Love Offering Podcast Show Notes

Motherhood is one of the most beautiful and sanctifying callings God gives women—but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and at times discouraging. Between the pressure to “get it right,” the constant comparisons, and the ordinary routines that fill our days, many moms quietly wonder if what they’re doing truly matters.

That’s why my recent conversation with Rhonda Stoppe on The Love Offering Podcast was such a breath of fresh air.

Rhonda joined me to discuss her new book, Moms of the Bible: Life-Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed, and Faithful, and our conversation reminded me of something every woman needs to hear:

God has never used perfect women. He uses willing women.

Throughout Scripture, we see mothers who were courageous and faithful, yet also fearful, controlling, broken, grieving, and imperfect. Women like Rebecca, Rahab, Naomi, Bathsheba, and Eve all carried their own stories of struggle and redemption. And yet, God still worked powerfully through their lives.

Rhonda beautifully shared how Scripture doesn’t hide the flaws of biblical women. Instead, it reveals God’s grace in the middle of their humanity. Their stories remind us that our failures do not disqualify us from God’s love or His purposes.

One part of the conversation that deeply resonated with me was Rhonda’s reminder that motherhood often feels ordinary because it is built in ordinary moments—packing lunches, driving kids to school, listening to teenage worries, apologizing after losing patience, and faithfully showing up day after day.

But those ordinary moments are shaping eternal souls.

Rhonda also spoke tenderly to women who long to be mothers but carry the grief of infertility or loss. She reminded listeners that motherhood is not limited to biology. Spiritual motherhood—mentoring, discipling, encouraging, and nurturing the next generation—is also deeply valuable in God’s Kingdom.

Another powerful takeaway from our conversation was the importance of older women mentoring younger women. Rhonda shared how godly older women changed the trajectory of her own life and motherhood journey simply by inviting her into biblical community and modeling authentic faith.

As Titus 2 women pour into younger generations, we see the beauty of God’s design for spiritual encouragement and discipleship.

Perhaps my favorite reminder from the entire conversation was this: the greatest thing our children can witness is not perfection, but a mother who genuinely loves Jesus.

Our children don’t need flawless mothers. They need mothers who repent, forgive, persevere, pray, and continue pursuing Christ in the highs and lows of everyday life.

If you are feeling weary, unseen, discouraged, or like your efforts don’t matter, I hope you remember this truth: God sees every hidden act of faithfulness. Nothing done in love for Him is wasted.
