You Are an Important Part of God’s Great Story

by | Jul 7, 2026 | The Love Offering Podcast Show Notes

Have you ever wondered if your life really matters?

Maybe you’re faithfully serving your family, going to work, caring for aging parents, volunteering at church, or simply trying to make it through another ordinary week. Your days may feel repetitive, unnoticed, or even insignificant. It’s easy to wonder if your story is making any difference at all.

If you’ve ever felt that way, I have good news.

Your story is an important part of God’s great story.

This week on The Love Offering Podcast, I had the privilege of talking with Randy and Rozanne Frazee about their new Bible study, Encountering God’s Love: From Genesis to Revelation. Their heart is to help readers see what so many of us have missed: the Bible isn’t a collection of disconnected stories. It’s one beautiful, unified story of God’s relentless love pursuing His people.

From the Garden of Eden to the final chapters of Revelation, God’s love is the thread that ties it all together.

The Bible Is One Story

One of my favorite moments in our conversation came when Randy explained that the Bible doesn’t simply begin in a garden—it ends in one too.

Genesis opens with God walking with Adam and Eve in perfect relationship. When sin entered the world, that fellowship was broken. But from Genesis 3 onward, every page of Scripture tells the story of God’s pursuit to restore what was lost.

The Bible isn’t random.

It isn’t fragmented.

It’s one continuous story of redemption.

And when we begin reading Scripture through that lens, everything changes.

The stories of Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Ruth, David, Esther, Mary, Peter, and Paul aren’t isolated events. Together they reveal a faithful God who has never stopped pursuing the people He loves.

Your Lower Story and God’s Upper Story

Roseanne shared one concept that especially resonated with me.

She described our everyday lives as our lower story.

It’s the school drop-offs.

The doctor’s appointments.

The laundry.

The difficult conversations.

The waiting.

The disappointments.

The ordinary routines that can sometimes make us wonder if God is doing anything at all.

But above our lower story is God’s upper story—His sovereign, eternal plan that has been unfolding since the beginning of time.

How often do we become consumed with today’s circumstances while forgetting that God sees the entire picture?

Joseph certainly couldn’t see it when he was betrayed by his brothers and thrown into prison.

Esther couldn’t fully understand why she had been placed in the palace.

Ruth had no idea that her quiet faithfulness would place her in the lineage of Jesus.

Yet looking back, we can clearly see God’s hand weaving each of their stories into His greater plan of redemption.

The same God is weaving yours.

Even when you can’t see it.

God Loves Using Ordinary People

One statement Randy made has stayed with me all week.

He said that throughout Scripture, God almost always chooses the least likely people to accomplish His greatest purposes.

Think about that.

Rahab had a painful past.

Moses doubted his ability.

David was overlooked.

Peter failed.

The women included in Jesus’ genealogy were broken, unlikely, and often considered outsiders by the world.

Yet God intentionally placed their names in the greatest story ever told.

Why?

Because His grace has always been greater than our failures.

Sometimes we believe God is looking for the most gifted, most influential, or most accomplished people.

But Scripture tells a different story.

God is looking for willing hearts.

Maybe you’ve wondered if you’re qualified.

Maybe you’ve questioned whether your life has enough significance to matter.

Friend, your willingness is far more important than your résumé.

Every Small Act of Obedience Matters

This conversation also reminded me of something deeply personal.

Just this week, a friend texted me to say she had started reading my devotional, A Little Goes a Long Way. Since it released nearly four years ago, her message was such a sweet reminder that we rarely see the full impact of our obedience.

Whether it’s writing a book…

Serving a neighbor…

Praying for a friend…

Showing kindness to a stranger…

Or faithfully loving your family…

God has a beautiful way of multiplying our small “yeses.”

Many of the people we read about in Scripture never witnessed the full impact of their faithfulness.

Neither may we.

But that doesn’t make our obedience any less significant.

Your Story Isn’t Finished

Maybe today you’re in a chapter you wouldn’t have chosen.

Maybe you’re waiting for answers.

Maybe you’re grieving.

Maybe you’re simply wondering whether your ordinary life has eternal value.

Can I encourage you?

The Author of your story is still writing.

The same God who faithfully carried His people through every chapter of Scripture is faithfully carrying you today.

He has not forgotten you.

He has not skipped your chapter.

And He never wastes a single page.

Your story matters because you matter to Him.

And your life—ordinary as it may seem—is an important part of God’s great story.

I hope you’ll listen to my conversation with Randy and Rozanne Frazee. Whether you’ve studied the Bible for years or you’re just beginning, I believe this conversation will help you fall even more deeply in love with the God who has been pursuing His people from Genesis to Revelation.
