I set down my shears, glanced in the mirror, and made contact with my own heavy eyes that whispered clearly, “My heart is hurting.” I lightly brushed my fingers over the bags under my eyes, hoping to rub away the evidence of my worn-down soul. My heart was hurting enough, I didn’t need everyone else to know it simply with one look.
It’s so easy to look in the mirror and begin to pick ourselves apart, but oftentimes the condition of our inside reflects on our outside. When we are feeling let down by others or less than in our own eyes, we can’t forget where our true comfort and worth come from. We are not defined by the way others treat us or see us. Sometimes we just need a simple reminder of where our worth and strength come from.
Here are a few reminders for the days your heart just needs a little extra love.
You are Valued
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” – Luke 12:6-7 (NIV)
You are incredibly valued. Not because of what you do, or how perfectly you manage your day. You’re valued simply because you are. Because you were created with intention and purpose by a God who sees you, all of you, and still calls you precious.
Jesus reminded us that if even the tiniest birds aren’t forgotten by God, how much more must He care about you? Every hair on your head is known. Every sigh. Every unspoken prayer. Every dream you’ve dared to whisper. He sees it all. And still, He cherishes you.
So walk in confidence today knowing this truth: you are not invisible. You are not forgotten. You are deeply known and dearly loved. You are valued beyond measure.
You are Beautiful
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” – Song of Solomon 4:7 (NIV)
Can we take a second today to just breathe in this truth? You. Are. Beautiful.
I’m not talking about makeup days, good hair days, or “I actually slept last night” days. I’m talking about the kind of beauty that runs deeper than mirrors can reflect. The kind that radiates from your spirit when you’re kind, when you laugh without holding back, when you show up for someone even though you’re running on empty.
You are beautiful because of whose you are, not because of how you look in the mirror. That kind of beauty, the real kind, is in you and radiates from the inside out.
You Are A Light
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” – Matthew 5:14 (NIV).
You are light. Even on the days when you feel dim. Even when life feels messy or your heart feels heavy. Jesus didn’t say try to be the light. He said you are the light of the world.
That means there’s something in you, placed there by God Himself, that shines. Your kindness, your strength, your love, your quiet faithfulness in the little things—it all carries His light. And the world needs it. Walk in humble confidence today, letting your light brighten the days of others.
No matter how you see yourself, know every tear shed and prayer whispered is held in God’s hands. He sees you and He loves you far beyond comprehension.
