S4E7 Show Notes: Pray Confidently and Consistently with Valerie Woerner

by | Feb 15, 2022 | The Love Offering Podcast Show Notes

As believers, we often struggle to let go of the things that keep us from reaching out to God. Valerie Woerner is on the show today teaching us that we don’t have to limp through our prayer lives carrying the weight of every distraction. We can learn to pray boldly to the God of the universe who is beckoning us to come sit with him, share our needs and our hearts, and simply know him. Prayer invites action into our lives by the God who is more powerful than we are on our own.

What weights do we need to take off so they don’t hold us back from a deeper conversation with God? What distractions are holding us back from running freely with our Father?

Let’s get rid of the burdens that are suffocating our prayer lives and leaving us gasping for Jesus so we can experience true joy in prayer that we never thought possible. Because, ultimately, prayer changes everything. A vibrant, unstuck prayer life can begin for you right now.

Quotes:

“Motherhood is more than the stereotypes we’ve heard.”

“It’s amazing what can happen when we immerse ourselves in God’s presence and live in light of that.”

“Prayer is our taste of heaven on earth. The creator of the universe wants to talk to us.”

“There’s a belief that we can’t change our prayer life. We are all called to pray and have a conversation with the Lord.”

“Prayer requires us to be still. It will require more from us but we receive more from it.”

“We need to change our mindset to what prayer is.”

“We can’t wait for the mountain top experiences.”

“There is freedom in prayer. There are many ways to pray.”

“Being honest with God does not scare Him. He wants us to come to Him.”

“My issues didn’t change, but my heart did.”

“If we can transform the way we come to God, ready to listen and obey, it will change how we pray.”

“Prayer is a privilege to have a conversation with the God who created the world. You have access to the God of the universe.”

“Simply fixing our eyes on God changes everything. He’s bigger than anything we face.”

“If we ask specifically and God says no then we can trust Him that it isn’t for our best.”

“God’s actions are often tied to the requests of people. He works through us.”

C.S Lewis quote: Can we believe that God ever really modifies His action in response to the suggestions of men? For infinite wisdom does not need telling what is best, and infinite goodness needs no urging to do it. But neither does God need any of those things that are done by finite agents, whether living or inanimate. He could, if He chose, repair our bodies miraculously without food; or give us food without the aid of farmers, bakers, and butchers; or knowledge without the aid of learned men; or convert the heathen without missionaries. Instead, He allows soils and weather and animals and the muscles, minds, and wills of men to co-operate in the execution of His will. “God,” said Pascal, “instituted prayer in order to lend to His creatures the dignity of causality.” But not only prayer; whenever we act at all He lends us that dignity. It is not really stranger, nor less strange, that my prayers should affect the course of events than that my other actions should do so. They have not advised or changed God’s mind—that is, His overall purpose. But that purpose will be realized in different ways according to the actions, including the prayers, of His creatures.

“We cannot spend time with God and not be changed by Him. Who you are surrounded by affects how you live.”

“God hears our prayers and they can fall in His will while not going against His plan.”

“We can love other people by lifting people up in prayer.”
