S2E49 Podcast Show Notes: The Sanctuary Project Featuring Holly Hayes

by | Dec 8, 2020 | The Love Offering Podcast Show Notes

Human trafficking can feel far away, but it is very much a reality for so many. In fact, according to the International Labor Organization, there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally, with thousands in the United States alone. My guest today knows this reality all too well.

Holly Christine Hayes was rescued out of a life of trauma nearly 20 years ago and knows the path to recovery can be long and rocky. She is now the Founder + CEO of Sanctuary Project, a survivor-run nonprofit social enterprise employing and empowering women who’ve survived lives of trafficking, violence and addiction in Austin, TX.

Her vision and leadership create a safe space for other survivors to grow in practical skills, unleash their creativity, embrace their femininity, and heal their hearts – all in community with other survivors.

Join us today for a conversation about God’s redemptive story and how God can use your pain to help others through theirs.

Quotes:

“When you’re lost in addiction you become a target for exploitation.”

“My self worth diminished to nothing; I believed I was only worth what a man would pay for me.”

“I even failed at being trafficked, ended up homeless, and abandoned by my trafficker.”

“On the bathroom floor was one of the holiest moments of my life. Driven to the end of my sin. Driven to my knees and surrendering.”

“I have healed and can now lead other women to healing.”

“There is a link between violence and addiction.”

“Force, fraud, and coercion.”

“Outreach, advocate, employment, and empowerment.”

“I wanted to create a place to make beautiful things. It’s a love offering for them internally and a way for them to give a love offering externally.”

“We want to see lives transformed. The Lord birthed this dream in me. I found sanctuary in Him and pray they do as well.”

“The road to learn to love again in a relationship was most difficult.”

“Who wouldn’t want in on this redemption story?”

“I think without understanding how much we have been forgiven, forgiveness is impossible.”

“I had five abortions and God forgave me. I could see my murder on His body. He paid too high a price for me not to be forgiven and for me not to forgive every wrong ever done to me. There is forgiveness of sin if we repent.”

“I also believe there is justice and He will right every wrong.”

“Offer love based on the healing you’ve walked through. Where He has redeemed you is the place you pour from.”
