Your Life Matters More Than You Think

by | Jun 23, 2026 | The Love Offering Podcast Show Notes

Have you ever wondered if what you’re doing really matters?

Maybe your days are filled with laundry, appointments, work responsibilities, caregiving, errands, or the same routines you’ve repeated countless times before. You love God and want to serve Him, but if you’re honest, there are moments when your life feels small, ordinary, and perhaps even insignificant.

If you’ve ever wrestled with those thoughts, you’re not alone.

On a recent episode of The Love Offering Podcast, I had the privilege of talking with my dear friend, Bible teacher, and author Crickett Keeth about her new Bible study, Living Out a Life That Matters. Through Paul’s relationship with Timothy in the book of 2 Timothy, Crickett offers a powerful reminder that every believer has a God-given purpose and that no life surrendered to Christ is ever wasted.

A Life of Eternal Significance

One of the truths Crickett shared is that we often think legacy is something reserved for people who lead large ministries, write books, stand on stages, or make headlines. But God’s definition of significance looks very different from the world’s.

Faithfulness matters.

Encouragement matters.

Obedience matters.

The quiet acts of service no one notices matter.

The prayers whispered behind closed doors matter.

The conversations that point someone toward Jesus matter.

Paul understood this as he invested in Timothy. He wasn’t simply teaching him theology; he was helping him live a life that would continue impacting others long after Paul was gone. Through encouragement, mentorship, and faithful discipleship, Paul left a legacy that still influences believers today.

The Danger of Comparison

One of my favorite parts of our conversation centered around comparison.

How often do we look at someone else’s calling and assume it is more important than our own?

We compare our influence, opportunities, gifts, platforms, and accomplishments, wondering if what we’re doing is enough.

But God never asks us to live someone else’s purpose.

Crickett shared that every believer has a unique role within the body of Christ. Some are called to lead publicly. Others are called to serve quietly behind the scenes. Some teach. Some encourage. Some organize. Some disciple one person at a time.

Every role is valuable because every role is assigned by God.

When we spend our energy wishing we had someone else’s assignment, we miss the joy of embracing our own.

Knowing Your Purpose

Crickett encourages women to develop a personal mission statement—a simple way of identifying how God has uniquely wired and called them.

Understanding our purpose helps us discern where to invest our time and energy. It helps us know what to say yes to and what to say no to. It gives us clarity when opportunities arise and keeps us focused on what God has specifically entrusted to us.

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”

God has already prepared meaningful work for each of us. Our job is not to create significance but to walk faithfully in the purpose He has already designed.

God Uses the Small Things

One story Crickett shared especially moved me.

Near the end of her life, her mother lived in a nursing home. She could no longer walk, hear, see, or speak. Many people might have assumed her usefulness had come to an end.

Yet God continued using her.

Her mother would sit in her wheelchair with a radiant smile. Staff members, visitors, and family members noticed. Again and again, people asked why she seemed so peaceful despite her circumstances. Those questions opened doors for Crickett to share the hope of Christ.

A smile.

Something so simple.

Yet God used it for eternal purposes.

That story serves as a beautiful reminder that God never puts His children on a shelf. As long as we have breath in our lungs, He can use us for His glory.

Your Life Matters

Friend, if you’ve been questioning your purpose or wondering whether your efforts make a difference, I hope you’ll hear this truth today:

Your life matters.

Your faithfulness matters.

Your obedience matters.

Your prayers matter.

Your encouragement matters.

The conversations you have, the people you love, the ways you serve, and the gifts God has given you all have eternal significance when surrendered to Him.

You may never fully see the impact of your faithfulness this side of heaven. But God sees it. He is working through it. And He promises that nothing done for His glory is ever wasted.

So today, instead of asking, “Am I doing enough?” perhaps we can ask a better question:

“Lord, how can I faithfully live out the purpose You’ve given me today?”

One day at a time. One act of obedience at a time. One opportunity to love at a time.

That’s how lives that matter are built.
