Our daily routines can feel monotonous, can’t they? We go through the motions because that’s what we’ve always done. But what if we reframe our routine through the lens of prayer? Here are ten prayers we can pray to make our morning monotony more meaningful.
The Alarm: Lord, thank You for blessing me with another day. You woke me up so there must be more for me to do. Awaken me to Your purposes and use me as an instrument to accomplish Your will. Ephesians 5:14
Coffee: Lord, pour Your Spirit into me. Fill all my emptiness with Your love so I may overflow and pour out Your love to the people I encounter today. Romans 15:13
Quiet Time: Lord, thank You for Scripture. It is alive, active, and sharper than a double-edged sword. Let it penetrate to my core. Speak to me, help me hide Your Word in my heart, and bring Your Word to mind throughout the day. Hebrews 4:12
Shower: Lord, I come just as I am with nothing to hide. Search my heart and wash away the impurities of my sin. Thank You for a new start every morning. Psalm 51:10
Getting Dressed: Lord, clothe me with Your compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Cover me with Your armor, specifically the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness. Protect me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Ephesians 6:10-18
Blow Dry: Lord, allow me to feel the warmth of Your presence throughout my day. Breathe fresh life into me. I choose to inhale what You alone have for me. Genesis 2:7
Brushing Hair: Lord, renew my thoughts and help me think only on things that are noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. Fill my mind with Your truth and filter out all the lies. Philippians 4:8
Makeup: Lord, I’m grateful for how You made me. Remind me of the masterpiece I am. As I put on my foundation, I’m reminded You are my secure foundation. As I put on my mascara, give me Your vision to see others as You see them and renew my focus on Your eternal perspective. And as I put on my lipstick, remind me of the power of my words. I pray the words of my mouth bring You glory by edifying and encouraging those You put on my heart. Proverbs 18:21 1 Samuel 16:7
Jewelry: Lord, help me remember that what’s inside my heart is more important than how I look on the outside. As I put on my rings, I commit the work of my hands. I want to do good works on Your behalf. And as I put on my earrings, I ask You to guard my ears. Help me quiet the noise of the world and hear Your voice above all others. Ephesians 2:10
Shoes: Lord, fit my feet with the readiness to share Your Good News. Help me stay in step with Your spirit and walk at Your pace. Lead, guide, and direct my path, and empower me to obediently go wherever you call. Isaiah 30:21
