3 Ways to Find Fulfillment in Christ by Grace Thomas

by | Jul 29, 2025 | The Love Offering Guest Blog Series

Have you ever longed for someone’s attention, desperate to be seen? The world tells us we can find satisfaction apart from Jesus. But Scripture says only Christ makes us complete, “and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority” (Col 2:10). Notice it doesn’t say complete through earthly accolades—it’s through Christ.

How do we apply this to our everyday lives? Here are three ideas.

Spend Time in His Word

We can become like the Psalmist and treasure God’s word more than gold. Instead of defaulting to distracting habits, we can set aside time to read the Word during brief moments throughout the day. If we want a fruitful relationship with God, we need to know Him, because apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

The world bombards us with changing messages, but God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God remains forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Meditate on His Character

When we’re discouraged by our imperfection, we can focus on His perfect attributes. Do we meditate on the beauty of His omniscience or omnipresence? Are we spending time getting to know Him as we would a friend? We can’t develop a relationship with God if we don’t know Him.

He loves us, despite our broken hearts that are “Deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:9). Do we trust Him to fulfill our deepest longings and search our hearts?

Worship Him

I don’t have to vie for the attention of others, afraid I’ll be overlooked. He created me and knows me better than I know myself (Psalm 139). When we open the pages of the Bible, we find a God who loves us unconditionally. He is patient, kind, and slow to anger (1 Cor 13). He came to offer us abundant life, unlike the thief who wants to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). Once we have a right view of God, we can worship and love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength as an overflow of love.

We don’t need to make ourselves “fit for God” because He handled that with Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection. So when we’re tempted to impress someone else to find our worth, we can remember our worth in Him. God sees everything about us and longs to fellowship with us. Are we talking to Him like we would talk to a friend? We can eagerly share our problems and praises with Him.

When we’re tempted to find fulfillment in human relationships, we can remember that God is the only one who eternally satisfies our deepest longing. His love is unconditional and boundless.
